The chorus of Will Smith's rap “Miami” goes like this: "Party in the city where the heat is on, all night on the beach till the break of dawn." That's actually a pretty good summary of this South Florida metropolis. Here are some pointers for a hot date in a hot city:

1. Learn the Lay of the Land

South Beach is where the beautiful people come to eat, drink, dance and spend money. Coconut Grove is fairly diverse and offers a handful of parks and historical sites that make for inexpensive outings.

Little Havana, as you'd expect, is a predominantly Cuban community with cigar factories, fruit stands, street fairs and authentic native cuisine. Aventura has plenty of condos and is home to young families and a significant Jewish population.

2. Bring Your ATM Card

Miami's nickname is “The Magic City,” and perhaps the most magical thing about it is how quickly your money disappears here. For an evening that includes cab fare, dinner and drinks—because, let's face it, Miami without cocktails is like New York City without pizza—expect to drop a good $75.

3. Make It a Lunch Date

Not sure if you want to devote a prime Saturday night to a date that's a potential dud? Opt for lunch along the Lincoln Road Mall, a stretch of eateries, bookstores, clothing boutiques and novelty shops in South Beach. Whether or not the outing leads to a second date, you won't regret an afternoon of specialty pizza and gelato.

4. To Market, to Market

Bayside Marketplace is a downtown shopping, dining and entertainment complex. After enjoying dinner and live music, keep the fun going when you board one of the district's evening disco cruises that lets the two of you cut loose on Biscayne Bay.

5. Go Out for Drinks

A cocktail date is an inexpensive, low-risk way to get to know someone new. Wet Willie's in Miami Beach offers a coastal view and is ideal for a laid-back date. At M-Bar, choose from more than 200 martinis while cozying up to panoramic views of Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline. The bar's cushy couches and dark wood furniture further set the mood.

6. Root, Root, Root for the Home Team

Both Miami's Dolphins football team and Heat basketball team were ranked last in their conferences during the 2007-08 season. The Florida Marlins baseball team’s performance, however, is decent. Stellar standings or not, South Florida's sports teams will always matter, as they do in any big city. Taking your date to a game is still more creative than going for dinner and a movie.

7. Bailamos

Miami's Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County brings in big-name jazz, Latin and other acts. For lesser-known, but equally fabulous, live music, check the Miami Herald, South Florida Sun-Sentinel and especially the flyers people hand you on the street.

8. Hit the Beach

South Beach, that is. Ocean Drive, with its Art Deco architecture and lively sidewalk cafe—some open 24 hours—feels like the center of the nightlife universe. There's no better place for a sophisticated, al fresco dinner date. Outdoor air conditioners keep tables cool, so try out that new shimmery eye shadow, knowing your face will still be sweat-free at the end of the meal.

9. Evoke Your Sultry Side

This city drips with sensuality. For ladies, stilettos, sparkly tank tops and tight dresses—or lack thereof—are wardrobe staples. Don't be surprised to see women wearing little more than bikinis walking down the street or lunching in a café. Even the guys wear their guayabera shirts and linen pants a little tighter. There's even a restaurant called B.E.D. (Beverage Entertainment Dining), where customers feast on tapas and bottles of Dom Perignon while lying on a mattress surrounded by pillows and candlelight.

10. Sweat It Out

Miami's neighborhoods are fairly walkable, and bikers, joggers and people on rollerblades are commonplace at every hour. Or take advantage of the scenery and combine fitness with romance: Go diving, try beachfront horseback riding or take a golf lesson together.

Miami really sucks, and I mean really sucks. The people there are really rude, extremely so. If you don't speak spanish, they won't help you. I have been at a store in Miami trying to buy items when the manager took one look at me after helping a spanish speaking person and he walked off... sorry, I look like an American. I have quite a few spanish speaking friends here from Mexico, Uraguay, and Spain, and they are willing to learn English whereas a lot of people in Miami refuse to learn English. Those people in Miami want spanish to be the main language in America. No way, this is America. I'm not naming any culture nor do I mean any offense to anyone at all. I'm just saying....

Hi, I want to challenge the guys in Miami. It's beyond the one night stand. How many of the men in Miami have enough in them to pursue a woman REALLY. It's a journey. It"s not easy but Oh so worthwhile!! I married a Miami man 28 years ago. He has been loyal, truthful, faithful and there for me always, in the good and bad. (Just llike in our wedding vows) The result: I have blossomed as a woman and he as a man. I invite you, take the ride, it's the best in your life!!! Now, I have a REAL MAN!!!! T
