Below, you'll have an opportunity to give us your tips for dating in San Antonio, so let us know what you think!

They call it the Fiesta City. Indeed, as home to more than 1.2 million Texans, San Antonio has plenty to offer the partying set. But the city can be a great date spot, too, for those who prefer to keep things low-key. Read on for the ins and outs of dating in San Antonio.

1) Know the lay of the Land

Just south of downtown is the aptly named Southtown, which offers a mix of historical sites interspersed with modern arts complexes, shops and other trendy venues. The neighborhood also hosts First Friday street festivals, great places to take a date or perhaps bump into someone new. Another hot spot is Olmos Park, which boasts upscale boutiques, fab restaurants and surprisingly affordable apartments.

2) Dress to Impress

San Antonio is less fashion-obsessed than other cities can be, but if you've got it, flaunt it. Don't hesitate to show off a tight belly or killer arms, but keep it classy.

3) Take me to the River

Bejeweled with restaurants, nightclubs and even theme parks, the San Antonio River Walk offers an array of exciting date-night options. Hold on tight to each other as you ride the coasters at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Then head to Paesanos for avant-garde Italian food in a contemporary yet cozy setting. Spend the evening hand in hand as you enjoy the strolling mariachi bands. And if you still have energy, join the sing-along at Howl at the Moon.

4) Hit the Dance Floor

Prove you're in the know by taking your sweetheart to St. Mary's Strip, a six-block section of North St. Mary's Street that's close to three local colleges. Accordingly, the crowd is young and the vibe is vibrant. For live rock and a jumpin' dance floor, make it Limelight. For a diverse array of sounds in a low-lit setting, head to Salute International Bar.

5) Take in some Music

While the Facebook generation canoodles on St. Mary's Strip, the grown 'n sexy prefer something a bit more sophisticated. Luna, on San Pedro Avenue, hosts a mature mix of blues, soul, jazz, Latin, Brazilian and other genres. Another option is Changos Havana Club on I-10 West, where the atmosphere is as original as the live music.

6) Stand up and Cheer

While not a sports mecca like Dallas, San Antonio boasts two basketball teams: the NBA’s Spurs and the WNBA’s Silver Stars. Tickets are available in every price range, so get yourselves some cute matching jerseys and make a night of it.

7) Know your Past

San Antonio drips with history. But many residents joke about how little they know of their city's past. So in your search for new things to do on a date, consider the old: Head downtown and visit the Alamo, the Museo Alameda or the Buckhorn Saloon & Museum.

8) Get in the "Spirit"

Every true San Antonian knows a good ghost story. After going on a ghost hunt with your sweetie, you'll have one, too. Contact Alamo City Ghost Tours to explore the underworld of the Alamo, some of the city's oldest graveyards and more. The adrenaline will flow, you'll hold hands and you'll feel a bond for life…and maybe the afterlife.

9) Isn't it Romantic?

San Antonio Botanical Garden, with its flowers, cozy pathways and lookouts, is a perfect date spot for two lovebirds. Admission is only $7, making the garden a less expensive and more romantic alternative to the local multiplex. Want more? Linger over dinner in the wine cellar of Vineyards; perfect food, a hilltop setting and romantic lighting make this spot popular for engagements, weddings and anniversaries. Expect to spend about $50 on dinner for two—or more if you want a decadent dessert or a glass of something from the Vineyards' stellar wine list.

10) Get Outta Town

South Texas has plenty of wide open spaces for lovebirds looking to get away. About an hour north is Luckenbach, a quaint country town with a general store and a bar where anyone with a guitar is welcome to let 'er rip. Country music legend Willie Nelson even wrote a song about it. So if your date doesn't mind sitting under the oak trees, nursing a cold beer and hearing some music, then head to Luckenbach for a day trip that's a slice of Americana. Or, about a half hour north of downtown San Antonio, you can get physical at Natural Bridge Caverns, where you can climb, hike and rappel through the area's natural wonders.

What are your Top Tips for Dating in San Antonio?

Your Tips

1) REAL Live Music and Grub - Casbeers

It's a little dingy, but there's no better way to test a new dates ability to keep it real than a visit to this San Antonio institution. It's good cheap Tex-Mex food. It's roots/country music. The cover is tiny, and you can even say "hi" to the talent when the show is over. A classic Texas kind of date.

2) SA Steak Classic - Little Rhein Steakhouse

The reviews aren't unanimous. Some people think its too expensive. Some are annoyed that it is a la cart. But when i want to see if a woman is "my kind of woman" we go to the Little Rhein. Does she know good steak? Does she put ketchup on her steak? All important criteria for this Texan. The wine list is very good, and if you're tired of eating at chain restaurants where the food arrives frozen on a truck, this is a great option.

3) The Icehouse - Rita's on the River

South Texas has a unique kind of hangout. Because of the brutally hot weather, decades past icehouses were popular places to gather. They were family locations, with cold beer, homestyle food and some cool breeze. Part German Beer Hall. Part Community Center. They are located all over San Antonio...and lots of fun.

Here are a few:

Sanchez', Acapulco, Dos Hermanas, Stanley's, La Tuna, The Beer Depot, The Texan

San Antonio is well eww. The great places are outside of city limits, lived here for along time and maybe go into SA 3 times a year, you go to far down any road in downtown SA you better hit your locks because you are going to run into the ghetto!

San Antonio is awesome. and there are plenty of things to do there. Is downtown the best part NO besides the history there & the Spurs yeah its gross but go to the north part of town and its much classier. But San Antonio has as much to offer as any other city you just have to look. And pretty much every local knows ths history of the city, but not the ghost stories. Try it! go to La Contera or Enchanted Rock or some of the many restaurants if its one thingSan Antonio knows how to do it's eat, some of the best food can be found in hole in the wall places you just have to know where to look. And if you don't like than leave but don't complain about it when others have been loving it since the city was built!
