Well since all the guys have wussed out on offering us an explanation as to why taking a girl's virginity is such a prize, I will hazard a guess that you all know the reasons for it being some kind of holy grail that you can brag about are just plain shameful.

It's treating the girl like a prize to be won, not a person with feelings who is likely going to be heartbroken to find out she was just a notch on the bedpost.
I don't believe the men are being wussies here. I just don't think the men you're looking for to answer this are here! (they are all out having s-e-x with virgins)

I never considered it to be the holy grail nor a prize. I've only been with one virgin and I was a virgin myself. Did I brag about it..absoulutley not! I was 14 and had no clue what the heck I was doing. I was more nervous I did something wrong. Sure I told all my friends I wasn't a virgin anymore, but that was about me not the girl.

Men who have no valid reason to seek out a virgin but view them as scores or prizes are the freakshow. People who hold one standard for men and another for women are the freakshow.
I think you have painted with such a broad brush here, that you have in fact condemned the religion of Islam, as it is practiced, WRT to this, with this remark.

You *DO* understand that, don't you?

Gosh, as a 29-year old virgin I'm beginning to feel like a bit of a freakshow reading some of the posts here. Good thing my fiance loves me and values my decision to wait for sex until marriage! lol Innocent and naive are not the same thing, as he often tells me. If anyone thinks that virgins don't understand sexual frustration, etc, they should just come talk to me. I get it. Waiting is hard. It's even more difficult when you actually have someone to wait for. But to me, it's worth it, freakshowiness notwithstanding.
I do not feel that way about what you said, I think it is good that you have your values and morals and abide by them...

My parents also, were both totally innocent when at 29, they married and it was the first time for both.

They had a storybook marriage (as I hope you will also!) that lasted 64 long years, and so loved one another, that when the first died, the second died too, TEN days later -- of a broken heart, I am sure.

I tried to follow that model, and did so until I was almost 27, and then it turned to ashes, with NOBODY on the horizon.

I very much envy you and your beloved and wish the both of you well.

It's my belief that life will be very very good for you.

I don't know about other discussions as they A) weren't linked and B) the OP discussion was "If you knew you were dating a virgin would it please you or trouble you?" That leaves both men who prefer virgins and those who do not on the table and doesn't even say men looking for female virgins. As far as I could tell this was an open discussion for all genders and perspectives. Sorry if I didn't come in with the knowledge that guys prefer virgins (as I don't so obviously there's something wrong with me) =)

Unfortunately my post on the patriarchy never came up because it was pretty good. Oh well. I did address neardc's point but I suppose you'll have to take my word for it =).

And to ThePriestess...roflmao u nub, diaf.

And to my own posts...TLDR.

Amirite?

Let me get my popcorn, this will certainly be interesting.

OK, please elaborate. And please use as many over-generalizations as possible.

Explanation: Virgin men aren't practiced in the various "techniques" necessary to please a sexually versed woman.

You're erroneously equating quantity with quality.
