"""

CAIRO, Egypt – President Barack Obama chose an Arabic satellite TV network for his first formal television interview as president , part of a concerted effort to repair relations with the Muslim world that were damaged under the previous administration.

"""

HOLY CRAP!

Guess we know where we stand, eh. His first call as President was to Palestine, not Israel, not France, not GB or Germany or Canada. And now his first television interview as President is with an Arab station, to the Arab people, not with the people who elected him!

We just got snubbed, folks! The first mixed-race president, reeking and steaming and rolling in history, and for his first interview, he turns his back on us and goes to an Arabic station.

How would it be different if he had called Israel, instead of Palestine? Israel is a Middle East country too.

what crisis didreagan spout about?

To paraphrase Reagan . . .

Are you better off now (at the end of Bush's term) than you were 8 years ago (before Bush's term)?

in purely economic terms? without a doubt.... i'm making about 70% more now than before.

but - i reject the premise of that question. i don't wait for government to make or break me. my preference is for the to stay as far away from my affairs as possible, and allow me the room to succeed (or fail) on my own.

the reality used to be that the feds had very little impact on my day to day life. unfortunately, that is changing.
Kinda hard for government not to break a person and a country while they are devaluing the dollar.

it's kinda like playing a ballgame where the officiating is really, really bad..... i should play hard enough to make sure that a bad call here and there won't be a determining factor in the outcome. but... sometimes it does seem that my team is being bet against. http://

He actually did call Israel, too, on his first day in office... (I haven't seen references to the order of the calls, other than in SaulGoode's post, but he called leaders of several Middle Eastern countries on day one).

Not really a good analogy.

I think of it is taking a dollar out of your wallet and folding it in half. That gives a good idea of what purchasing power will be like.
